The Best Treatment for Scars and Stretch Marks

Explore the Vbeam® Perfecta

If you’re tired of looking in the mirror and seeing troublesome scars or stubborn stretch marks, the board-certified dermatologists at Cumberland Skin are here to help you with an effective cosmetic treatment.

The Vbeam® Perfecta laser treatment is our go-to method for helping patients achieve soft, smooth skin. Learn more about this procedure below, including how the Vbeam® Perfecta treats scars and stretch marks, what to expect during the procedure, the recovery process, and more.

How Does the Vbeam® Perfecta Work?

At Cumberland Skin, we utilize the Vbeam® Perfecta to improve the look of scars, stretch marks, and more. It is a non-ablative, pulsed dye laser system that uses an intense but gentle burst of light energy to selectively target vessels and capillaries within a certain area of the skin. This light energy creates microscopic damage to the deeper layers of skin, triggering the body’s own healing process which boosts collagen production.

After a few sessions with the Vbeam® Perfecta, the results are noticeably firmer, tighter skin and a more even skin tone, which helps to reduce visibility and the raised appearance of scars and stretch marks.

Where Can the Vbeam® Perfecta Be Used?

Our board-certified providers use the Vbeam® Perfecta to safely address skin concerns all over the face and body. Common ways we use this effective laser is to treat acne scars on the face, surgical scars on the trunk of the body, and stretch marks on the abdomen.

If you have a question about treating a specific skin concern with the Vbeam® Perfecta, reach out to our clinic. One of our board-certified providers would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

What Can I Expect During a Vbeam® Perfecta Treatment for Scars and Stretch Marks

Though the Vbeam® Perfecta is considered a gentle laser and doesn’t require much preparation, it’s important to avoid any major sun exposure and heavy scrubbing or exfoliation to prevent unnecessary trauma to the skin.

Vbeam® Perfecta treatments take place at our state-of-the-art dermatology clinics in Lebanon, Hermitage, Hendersonville, and Brentwood. During the treatment, your provider will have you wear protective eye goggles to ensure your eyes are not damaged by the laser light.

As your provider administers the laser, you can expect to feel quick zaps on your skin and some slight irritation and tingling. One of the top benefits of the Vbeam® Perfecta is its exclusive cooling mechanism; with each laser light pulse, the device emits a short burst of cooling mist to prevent overheating and skin damage.

What Does Vbeam® Perfecta Recovery Look Like?

After undergoing a Vbeam® Perfecta treatment for scars and stretch marks, it’s important to take care of your skin by wearing sunscreen and avoiding strong sun exposure, harsh scrubbing and exfoliation, excessive heat, and strenuous exercise that may overheat the skin.

Another benefit of the Vbeam® Perfecta laser is that it has no downtime following the procedure. You may experience some redness and swelling, but this should resolve a day or two after the treatment.

Results of the Vbeam® Perfecta treatment for scars and stretch marks are often noticeable shortly after the treatment. This may include firmer skin, reduced redness, and less visibility of the targeted skin concern.

Optimal results often require multiple sessions of the Vbeam® Perfecta laser. Your provider will discuss this with you beforehand so you have a better understanding of what to expect during and after your treatment.
